Did you try to "Rebuild" your mailbox? Select your mailbox in the panel to the left, then go to the "Mailbox" menu and choose "Rebuild". Deleting plists can cause data lost - only do this if you are sure what you are doing

Reubenz: iPhone in Malta — As you say having an iPhone without an iTunes account does not make sense. I have an iPhone 3G and also a UK iTunes account so I can install and download apps. But if I didn't have the account I would think twice before getting the iPhone
