problem with MAIL

Hello everybody, 
I could do with some help please.
My mail program is working real funny. When i start it up, every move i ask it to do takes a real long time.

The little wheel make me dizzy looking at it.

Mainly when its trying to view emails. ( even ones stored on my computer ) 

I thought i'd try to reinstall it so thats what i did and it did not solve the problem.

( but i only deleted the program file - not any plists )

any suggestions please.
