Most of you would know that if you have limited space on your Mac you can store mail messages online using a webmail-based solution such as Gmail.
Gmail offers, FREE of charge, a mind-boggling 6624MB (Over 6GB!) of storage on their servers. Add this benefit to the face that Gmail has a comprehensive set of tools to organise, archive, search and spam-filter your mail and it begs the question - why aren't YOU using it?
There are also a number of third-party add-ons such as "Gee!" , a free Gmail notifier, which you can download here:
Gee! is a notifier for Atom Feeds that sits in your menubar. It was specifically written to read the Atom feed provided by Google for their wonderful Gmail service.
For those of you who may not be aware, Gmail can be configured as a POP client on OS X Mail and you have the option to delete email form Google's servers once it has been downloaded, or to leave an intact archive there as an automatic backup.
You can also use Gmail chat which works both whilst you are logged into Gmail or in a standalone application such as Adium which I will cover in a later edition.
If you have any problems subscribing to a new Gmail account let me know and I will help you.
